Single Sign-On (SSO) Integration with SurveyToGo

SurveyToGo now offers Single Sign-On (SSO) integration, enabling secure and simplified access through Microsoft accounts. This guide explains how to use, configure, and manage SSO, including admin options and offline functionality.

The guide will cover:

    • The supported Application
    • Enabling and Configuring the organization access modes
    • Login process with SSO
    • Additional important notes

Supported Applications

Currently, SSO is supported in the following applications:

    • SurveyToGo Studio
    • SurveyToGo Play Store Android App

Note: SSO support for the iOS App, PC Surveyor, Fieldwork Manager App, and the legacy APK installed Android App is not supported at the moment.

Organization Access Modes Configuration

SurveyToGo provides flexible configuration options for SSO, ensuring organizations can tailor access settings to their needs.

Authentication Modes

Admins can configure how users log in by selecting one of the following modes:

    • SSO Only: Users are required to log in exclusively through SSO.
    • Password Only: Users log in using their SurveyToGo credentials (no SSO).
    • Both SSO and Password: Users can choose to log in via SSO or a password.

Note: Administrators can log in via password/SSO regardless of the selected authentication mode.

Application-Level SSO Configuration

Admins can define which applications will allow SSO login:

    • Studio Only: SSO is enabled only for SurveyToGo Studio.
    • Apps Only: SSO is enabled only for the Data Collection Apps.
    • Both Applications: SSO is enabled for both Studio and the Play Store Android App.

To configure it click on: Organization -> Organization Properties 

in the pop up screen set "State" and "Platform" 

This configuration can also be set for specific user in the User Properties: 

Note: To allow users to login via SSO the users must have a Microsoft-Account Associated Email Addresses configured under their properties.

    • Log in to SurveyToGo Studio as an Admin or with the proper permissions for User management.
    • Navigate to the User Management Section.
    • Go to Surveyor User & Groups or Studio Users & Groups > Users.
    • right click on user and choose: User Properties > User Details

    • Add the Microsoft account email address in the email field.
    • Once an email is added and saved, the system will automatically link the Dooblo user to the corresponding Microsoft account.

Note: Users without an email configured in their profile will not be able to log in via SSO.

Login to SurveyToGo with SSO

To login to SurveyToGo via SSO, follow these steps:

    • Open the SurveyToGo Application: Launch either SurveyToGo Studio or Play Store Android App.
    • Select SSO Login: On the login screen, choose the option to sign in with your Microsoft account.
    • Authenticate: Enter your Microsoft account credentials when prompted.
    • Access Granted: Upon successful authentication, access to the application will be granted.

Important: Offline Functionality with the Android App

The Play Store Android App supports offline SSO login under the following conditions:

    • First-Time Online Login: The user must log in via SSO at least once in an online environment.
    • Offline Access Duration: Offline login is valid for up to one week after the last successful online login.
    • Renewal Requirement: After one week, users must log in online to reactivate offline access.

This functionality ensures that field staff can work efficiently in remote areas without internet connectivity.
