Overview
This feature will enable you to show/hide part/all of the survey Questions in an extended screen for the interviewer to see.
The screen is a view only screen and the interviewer will not be able to choose the answers.
The Dual screen support can work with one of 2 different technologies:
- Screen replication over WIFI/Bluetooth (Samsung calls it "Smartview" sometimes and it is accessed from the settings).
- Connecting the tablet/phone through the USB port to an HDMI screen using a cable and an adapter. This technology is called MHL technology (Samsung and other vendors) or Slimport (non-Samsung vendors).
While #1 is "cooler" since there are no cables involved, from our experience anything "WIFI" related tends to be more challenging to setup in the field when connectivity issues arise.
#2 requires that the tablet will support MHL or Slimport and then you need a "MicroUSB/MHL -> HDMI adapater" or "MicroUSV/Slimport -> HDMI adapter" – but once you have this, you have a cable on one end that connects to the USB port and another one that connects to an HDMI monitor or TV and it just works.
Not ALL devices support MHL or Slimport, the list of devices supported is found here:
MHL: http://www.mhltech.org/devices.aspx
Slimport: http://www.slimportconnect.com/slimport-supported-devices/
Supported Question Types:
The extended screen is currently supporting the following question types:
- Single Choice
- Multiple Choice
- Single Choice Grid
- Multiple Choice Grid
- Rating

Setting Answer/Topic Properties:
We have added 2 additional columns that control the Extended Screen settings for an answer/topic:
Extended Screen Good Answer - Checking this in an Answer will show only these answers in the Answers Summary, will usually be used if we would like to show the interviewer only the "Good" answers he chose, for example: showing only 'Yes' for Yes/No Answers.
Extended Screen Hidden - Hiding the answer from the interviewer. Should be checked if you do not want to show the answer to the interviewer such as: Don't Know, Don't want to Answer etc.
Using a Different Language in the Extended Screen:
If you would like to use a different language in the extended screen please use this script in your survey
You can use either of these options:
ExtendScreenMgr.SetLanguageByNetCode()
ExtendScreenMgr.SetLanguageByID()
Please find attached a sample of some questions and how they appear when working with an Extended Screen, click here to learn how to import the survey.
